Building Networks for Social Enterprises: Fair Trade Turkey Project Launch online event held via Zoom on September 2, 2021!

Building Networks for Social Enterprises: Fair Trade Turkey Project has been launched at an event on September 2, 2021.

Fair Trade is a type of commercial partnership which seeks more equality in international trade on the basis of dialogue, transparency, and respect. It offers better trading conditions and guarantees the rights of marginalized producers and workers, thus contributing to sustainable development.

Fair Trade is more than just trade; it offers a new vision of business and trade which prioritizes people and the planet rather than profits. As a concept symbolizing the institutional models of the new economy, Fair Trade fights against poverty, climate change, gender inequality and injustice.

Fair Trade Organizations, in the essence of their missions, are openly committed to Fair Trade. These companies, with the support of conscious consumers, actively support farmers and producers in accessing good working conditions and fair payment for their work, and raise awareness and campaign to improve the rules and practices of conventional international trade.

Building Networks for Social Enterprises: Fair Trade Turkey Project, funded by the European Union, has been created to build long-term cooperation on local, regional and national levels between Turkish and European civil society organizations. The project, which is implemented by INOGAR Cooperative and World Free Trade Organization, aims to establish a Fair Trade network in Turkey for local social enterprises and relevant stakeholders.

Building Networks for Social Enterprises: Fair Trade Turkey Project has been launched to bring together all stakeholders of social economy in Turkey, to build a community, and to raise awareness on Fair Trade. The new Fair Trade Network aims to help social enterprises promote their Fair Trade practices and production, and connect to global Fair Trade communities and markets. The project will include trainings and advocacy work on Fair Trade practices, Fair Trade supply chains, and markets to help Turkish entrepreneurs in trade to connect to the global Fair Trade Network.
