Fair Trade Turkey Project Roundtable Meeting Was Held In Istanbul

Building Networks for Social Enterprises: Fair Trade Turkey Project, carried out by the INOGAR Cooperative in cooperation with the World Fair Trade Organization and financed by the European Union, was held in Istanbul. 

The meeting, which started with the opening speech of Mehmet Sarıca, Chairman of the Board of Directors of INOGAR Cooperative, continued with the speech of World Fair Trade Organization Project Coordinator Zerrin Cengiz on WFTO & Alternative Business Models. After Zerrin Cengiz`s speech on how the concept of fair trade can create and transform alternative business models, Mert Fırat, Founder Partner of INOGAR Cooperative, explained the operational process of how the project started in Turkey.

After the break, INOGAR Cooperative Founding Partner Dr.Ali Ercan Özgür moderated the panel with the entrepreneurs who are Ögeday Uçurum, the founder of the social enterprise TOYİ, which aims to support children`s creativity and imagination, Bego Demir, the founder of the sustainable, clean fashion movement BEGO Jeans, which aims to provide contributed on how to adapt and Prof. Dr. Itır Erhart, the founder of Açık Açık Association which aims to promote open communication, transparency and accountability in the civil society sector.

The last session of the meeting; The Group Discussion for the Development of Implementation Strategies of Fair Trade in Turkey ended with the suggestions, questions and discussion of the participants on what can be done to spread the concept of Fair Trade in Turkey.
